Although OnePlus isn't particularly keen on keeping secrets and have already teased the OnePlus 5 quite a few times officially, we have not yet been treated to everything that there is to see. The front mostly remains a mystery with some claiming that the smartphone will feature a QHD Super AMOLED display. The price itself is a very hot topic given that some sources are claiming that the phone will be priced significantly higher than the OnePlus 3T. However, a recent leak by True-Tech is indicating that may not be the case in India at least.

Make no mistake! The OnePlus 5 will still be higher priced than the OnePlus 3T, but that is to be expected really. Nevertheless, the Rs 32,999 ($512) price tag for the 6GB/64GB version is actually cheaper than the OnePlus 3T 6GB/128GB version, which is priced currently at 34,999 ($544). The 8GB/128GB version on the other hand will allegedly have a price tag of Rs 37,999 ($590) and that's roughly half the Rs 75,000 ($1165) price tag which the 6GB/128GB Galaxy S8+ is carrying in the country. If this does turn out to be true and the OnePlus 5 is priced similarly in other countries as well, that definitely qualifies as amazing pricing!

Yesterday, Samsung unveiled their range of Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 1.0 memory cards to the world and they will have significant advantages over micro-SD cards that we use now. These are specifically targeted towards D-SLR and 3D VR cameras, along with action cameras and even drones! Apart from the standard 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants, the UFS 1.0 cards will offer even a 256GB variant.

If you are like us, you must be wondering what advantage it will give you over traditional micro-SD, when using it in a smartphone. The answer to that is better 3D gaming on phones that use their external memory as the first choice and faster, smoother 4K and VR media playback. The UFS card will read data at a speed of 530MBps, which will put it in the same category as a standard SATA Solid State Hard Disc used in full fledged computers! To give you an idea of the speed, consider the fact that the next time you are transferring a movie on to your UFS card, every GB of data will just take 2 seconds to write onto it. That's five times more than what micro-SD cards are capable of right now and very impressive.

The Galaxy S7 is arguably the best smartphone manufactured by Samsung's and it has passed with flying colors in stress tests like water resistance and substantial drop tests. Now we have a point to point comparison of the Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6s is terms speed and it can be seen that iPhone has won the race in real world performance.

Jerome Ortega, a YouTube channel owner did a performance test of many top devices like the Moto X Pure Edition, the Nexus 6P, the Galaxy S7 edge, and the iPhone 6s Plus.

All of these smartphones are running on a newly installed OS without any sim card along with same set of apps. This test was done to find out how quickly each device runs a series of applications.

In this scenario, the iPhone 6S Plus is backed by 2GB RAM and a dual-core A9 SoC, whereas the Galaxy S7 edge is backed by 4GB RAM and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Tests have proved that, performance wise the new Snapdragon 820 CPU doesn't exceed the A9.

Contrary to the belief that the Galaxy S7 edge will emerge as the faster device, it is shocking to see the iPhone surpassing the latest competitor smoothly (check out the scores in the image above). The iPhone 6s Plus completed the test cycle 17 seconds before the Galaxy S7 edge.

The iPhone 6s is faster than the Galaxy S7 edge, which is quite commendable. It will worthwhile to note that the speed of Nexus 6P is almost same to the Galaxy S7 edge and Moto X Pure is at the bottom.

Although Samsung will probably resume selling the Note 7 with a safer batch of battery and maybe even a slight rebranding, analysts are of the opinion that it might not be enough to help Samsung out of the huge loss that this fiasco has landed them in. According to Mirae Asset Securities, launching the next flagship device (which is probably the Galaxy S8) prior to its expected release date could prove to be a vital move that may help Samsung somewhat counter the loss that it is suffering both due to the expenses associated with recalling the defective Note 7s, as well as the long term impact on the company's reputation due to what happened.

It has been rumoured that Samsung is currently developing two secret flagship class smartphones, dubbed as Dream (SM-G950) and Dream2 (SM-G955). If this rumor is true then these could be the two upcoming Galaxy S8 models (or not). However, if they are, then we will have to assume that Samsung is once again skipping a number (4 in this case) as the S7 and S7 Edge were codenamed SM-G930 and SM-G935 respectively. Going by how the Galaxy Note 7 performed after skipping the number 6 (the Note 7 was preceded by the Note 5), the superstitious among us may not exactly recommend that!

The latest Galaxy S-series of smartphones have been officially unveiled by Samsung and they will become available to customers all around the world, come next month. The release date will vary of course, alongside the actual price, depending on the concerned region. Although Xiaomi has recently toppled the Korean giant and taken hold over as the number one smartphone OEM in the country, Samsung still has one of its biggest markets in India and we might just have some inside info on what will be the price of the S9 and S9+ there.

If the report by 91Mobiles is to be believed, then the S9 will start at Rs 62,500 for 64GB storage ($958 approx.) and the S9+ will start at Rs 70,000 for 64GB storage ($1073 approx.). The price will shoot up to Rs 71,000 ($1088 approx.) if you want a Galaxy S9 with 256GB storage, while the S9+ will offer the same storage at Rs 79,000 ($1211 approx.). As you can see, they will be significantly more expensive than their US counterparts, but that's the ironical situation India; You will have to pay more taxes on electronics than the United States, because almost everything electronics carries a "luxury" tax with it!

pixel 3a

Google's latest device Pixel 3A isn't the attractive one in the market, nor it has the specs to die for, but it cost way less, and it gets the job done. In fact, Google market it that way suggesting that it is a phone that gets it done which seems kind of brilliant. For years, the smartphonemanufacturers have been pushing the technologies to ge the bigger and faster smartphones. In fact, lots of these have features we don't even need like Galaxy Fold. Samsung spend millions in research to find a screen that is foldable. These have been an extra burden on consumer's wallet.

Last week, Google unveil its latest smartphone, the Pixel 3A and Pixel 3AXL, which are essentially the budget variants of the last year's version Pixel 3. Google simply, removed the high-end hardware and released at the way less price. The pixel 3 has already won the recognition for its superior photography, especially for the night-time photography Pixel 3 has far better results than any other existing camera.

The pixel 3A costs only $399. Google seems not to be bothered by the race of ‘being first' or ‘having the most expensive smartphone'. It is focusing on the market that is budget-conscious and wants a phone that has a good screen, reliable functionality, and perhaps a good camera too. Despite of its cost, it can run your business productivity apps like Gmail and slack, takes great photos, and affordable.

Pixel 3A runs on Android 9 Pie out of box, has 5.6-inch display with 2220x1080 resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm snapdragon 670 octa-core processing chip. It has 64GB storage and 4GB memory. The rear camera is 12.2MP with optical + electronic image stabilization f/1.8 aperture, 76 field of view, and 3,000mAh batter with fast charging.

ram-1

RAM amounts and CPU space sizes available on a hosting server are among the most important things to consider when choosing the right web hosting service for a website. As a website owner, you have to strike a good balance between your budget and the RAM and CPU size that you choose. Ultimately, you need a hosting plan that meets the needs of your website. But you must first understand these needs before starting your search for the best hosting service.

By the end of this short read you will have understood of how to determine the RAM and CPU that your site needs.

What is server RAM?

Random Access Memory (RAM) of a hosting server is basically the RAM of the hosting computer. This computer is different from a normal computer in the sense that it has resources dedicated to hosting and availing websites on the internet. The computer's RAM temporarily stores data needed to run an application or program and makes the data available on demand.

More or Less RAM?

ram-server

From the basic responsibility of RAM, it's right to deduce that more RAM means uninterrupted availability of data and smooth running of programs and applications. A server with more RAM can support more apps or more web activity compared to a server with less RAM.

Having more than enough RAM at any given time is better than having less than needed amount of RAM. For instance, during times of peak traffic, your site needs more memory as many users are sending requests for data to the site. Should the site not have the amount of RAM that can put up with the high traffic, it may become slow or even stall completely, which would cause visitors to leave the site.

Determining How Much RAM Your Site Requires

Web hosting companies look at memory usage in different ways. You may find that a hosting plan has a set limit on the memory usage, for example 2GB. Others indicate that a single user cannot exceed a certain percentage of the server's total memory. When comparing different hosting solutions make sure you understand each hosting company's approach to RAM size.

Here are a few pointers that will help you determine the amount of RAM your site needs:

If your site experiences heavy traffic, it needs more RAM to ensure that it keeps up with visitors' requests

The content management system you are using - some CMSs like Drupal, Joomla, and WordPress generally require more RAM

Static sites require less RAM in comparison to dynamic sites

The server's operating system has an influence on the amount of RAM needed

If a site uses caching, it can use less RAM than a site that doesn't use caching

What is CPU in Relation to Web Hosting?

Server CPU (Central Processing Unit) refers to the CPU(s) of the hosting computer(s). Normally, web hosting servers will have multiple CPUs depending on the nature and size of websites it hosts. A CPU stores and processes data, and its capacity to do so determines the efficiency of the server. Larger CPUs are able to store more information as well as process it faster than smaller CPUs. As such, the amount of space available in the server's CPU significantly influences the performance of your site.

Site traffic is just as important to choosing the right amount of CPU space for your site as it is to choosing the amount of RAM. CPUs with little space can get overloaded by many simultaneous requests, causing the site to suffer performance problems. If you have a large corporate or eCommerce site that receives heavy traffic, choose a hosting environment with a large CPU. Dedicated hosting and virtual private servers (VPS) are preferred to shared hosting when large CPU sizes are needed.

Every site owner wants the best hosting service; a service caters for the website's current needs as well as expected future needs. It's of paramount importance that you consider the scalability prospects of your site as you choose the right RAM and CPU sizes for your site. Leave enough room for future growth and expansion so that you will not need to contract another hosting service when your website becomes more popular and hence busier.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017) had both received a major camera update from Samsung a few months back, but the budget device Galaxy A3 (2017) was left out of the fold. The good news is that the A3 (2017) has also started to receive a similar camera update now and the OTA package comes in packed with last month's security updates from Google and Samsung as well. Although it's technically the middle of April, that's all the more reason for you to download and install it as soon as possible.

As far as the camera improvements are concerned, they can be listed as the following, but there could also be some minor improvements in terms of picture quality and post processing.

·         AR Stickers are now part of the camera on the A3 (2017)

·         Selfie focus mode is now included, which will allow the camera to take a selfie with a blurred background, similar to a bokeh effect

Check out our firmware section to find all the latest updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.
