Today, Facebook unveiled a new version of its social network, called "Facebook At Work", with an emphasis on organizational communication for employees at a single company. The service, which is set to launch as a free app on Android's Google Play and iOS' App Store later today, will still require participating companies to receive an official invite, but upon launching the service, employees will enter an ad-free, no-subscription version of Facebook that connects employees only to each other, as opposed to the wider world.

In that respect, the service will both mirror those of corporate communication tools like Yammer and Slack and offer its own familiar twist for employees who have already gotten hooked on Facebook's style.

 

 

In the meantime, creator Lars Rasmussen made the interview rounds on Wednesday to describe what users can expect from the work-only version. Facebook has just officially published "Facebook Lite" v1.0.0.0 App on the Google Play store. The main reason for this App is to make a lite, fast Facebook App for Low-end Android smartphones, as the current Facebook App is very large in size and performs slow on low-spec devices with less Ram and CPU power and uses less data and works in all network conditions

 

 

Facebook Lite is relatively tiny for an app from a major social network, weighing in at only a quarter of a megabyte a crucial stat if you live in a place that can only get 2G data access. There's a good reason for that, too: it looks like Facebook Lite isn't much more than a WebView wrapper for the mobile site, plus native Android notifications.

Facebook is currently testing the Material Design UI on its official Android App. Starting from version 28 and version 29, Facebook added few Material Design elements (Icons, Animation, floating action button, spinner... etc) in a way to enhance the overall look and feel of the App. we got some screenshots.
