Many fans were disappointed when the Galaxy Note 7 did not match up to the rumors of the smartphone sporting 6GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. One could say that disappointment turned to bewilderment when some of the devices started to explode and a worldwide recall had to be arranged by Samsung. While Samsung sorts the entire mess out, new rumors indicate that Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi 5s with 6GB of RAM and the mythical Snapdragon 821 chipset with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz.

None of the other rumoured specs seem less than impressive either as it's supposed to be sporting 256GB of internal storage along with a pressure sensitive display. They will probably not upgrade the screen resolution to 1440p though and will instead possibly stick to the same 5.15-inch 1080p panel. Other specs include a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 4-megapixel front camera, fingerprint scanner, NFC, 2G, 3G, 4G, VoLTE and a 3,490mAh battery. Nothing is official though, so we would suggest waiting for a while before getting your hopes up too much.

honor

Yesterday, Honor launched its large screen premium smartphone, the Honor X10 max in China. This is the only smartphone by the company which offers such a massive 7.09-inch display screen, ideal for watching movies or playing games. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Density 800 chipset, making it the third such Huawei/Honor device in the past few weeks. The phone follows a similar design as the Honor X10 was announced early in May. This includes a rectangular camera like the Honor X10. The Max variant features a traditional waterdrop display on the display. Thanks to the design team, the company decided to retain the 3.5-mm headphone jack as well as the side-mounted fingerprint scanner and power button, similar to its smaller variant.

The Honor X10 max comes with an RGBW color display replacing the traditional RGB. The additional W stands for white sub-pixels that are supposed to reduce the power consumption of the panel when white color is the display. The company claims that by using RGBW that have successfully reduced the power consumption. The panel also filters out harmful blue light that emits from the mobile phone screen especially at night time.

The Honor X10 max comes with 6GB RAM and 8GB Ram and has up to 128GB internal storage. To keep the prices of the handset, the company decided to skip the 256GB ROM option. The phone features a three-camera system at the rear side including the primary camera on the phone that it 48MP paired with an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP depth sensor lens. For taking selfies, you get an 8MP selfie shooter housed in a waterdrop notch. Given the display screen size, the phone needs a large battery as well. You get a 5,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging. The X10 comes with a 4,300mAh battery. The Honor X10 max uses 1217 linear stereo speaks with smart PA for amplifying its sound. The phone comes in three colors - Racing blue, black, and silver. The honor X10 max will go on sale from July 3 across all major retailers in China.

Anyone who isn't familiar with the business relationship that the two companies actually share will probably assume that Apple and Samsung are the worst of enemies. Although that statement wouldn't really be off by much, the truth is that the two giants have had multiple business relationships for years now, in spite of all the controversies and lawsuits in-between them. For example, the rigid OLED panel used in making the innovative touch bar for the new range of Apple MacBook Pros is a product supplied from the A2 line of Samsung Displays.

The reason as to why Apple chose OLED over LCD for making the touch bar lies in the fact that OLED panels are considerably slimmer than LCD panels (three times approximately). Another report indicates that even the Driver IC used to bond the touch bar to the MacBook was supplied by System LSI division of the Korean tech giant. There is no doubt that OLED is the next step in terms of display evolution as they consume less power, produce better colors and have a lower response time than LCD. In fact, most smartphones have been predicted to switch over to OLED panels by 2018. Once you consider that Samsung is the largest OLED panel manufacturer in the world, the future does seem bright for them.

A company called ecoATM recently conducted a survey of 1,050 Apple iPhone owners age 18 or older.

This survey revealed that most of the respondents are very loyal to their current iPhone. When asked what new feature would make them switch from their current handset to the Samsung Galaxy S6, 26% said that nothing could get them to swap their current handset for the new S6 flagship. 32% said that a lower price point for the Galaxy S6 could entice them to switch.

What would it take for an Apple iPhone owner to switch to a Samsung phone?

According to the same survey, 24% would do it if it were a free swap, and 16% would make the trade if the Samsung handset was offered to them at a lower price point. Outside of pricing, 21% would swap their iPhone for a Samsung branded smartphone based on the latter having a longer battery life. 18% would do it for a larger screen-size and 3% would make the change if they saw a celebrity using a Samsung phone. By the way, 16% of iPhone users surveyed said that they would never exchange their iPhone for another smartphone under any condition.

So what is it that prevents iPhone users from switching to a new phone?

A quarter of the respondents with an iPhone said that the fact that their friends and family have one is a reason not to switch. 21% cite the better features on the device as the reason why they stay with it, while 19% say they exclusively use Apple products.

Samsung has already replaced most of the hazardous Galaxy Note 7 smartphones in the US and has even restarted selling the phone with a guarantee for safety. However, things just took a turn for the worst yesterday when a Galaxy Note 7 caught fire within a Southwest Airlines plane (994) that was heading to Baltimore from Louisville.

Brian Green stated that the phone was turned off and in his pocket when he noticed smoke coming from it. He threw it onto the floor, where it then proceeded to burn the carpeting and even scorched the metal floor beneath it. In Green's own words, a "thick grey-green angry smoke" was emitting from the smartphone. The plane was evacuated immediately after.

The box as shown by the owner clearly indicates that the device was supposed to be safe due to the black square icon that you can see right beside the model number (SM-N930A). He further added that it even had the green battery icon used by Samsung to assure safety of the device. The phone was at about 80-percent charge when this incident occurred and according to Mr. Greene, he had used a wireless charger to charge it previously.

The burned Note 7 is being investigated by the Louisville Fire Department (arson division), while the CPSC has already started an investigation on the incident. Considering that even checking the device's IMEI number with the recall eligibility checker app confirms that this was indeed a "safe" unit, things are looking VERY bad for Samsung right now. On being questioned by The Verge, Samsung had this to say;

"Until we are able to retrieve the device, we cannot confirm that this incident involves the new Note7. We are working with the authorities and Southwest now to recover the device and confirm the cause. Once we have examined the device we will have more information to share."

Yes, One of Samsung's divisions built Burj Khalifa making it on Top list of the construction firms worldwide. However, there were some partners with Samsung on constructing the tower but the Korean giant made the main design and the engineering work (Photo below shows a Samsung's Engineer working on construction site at burj khalifa, Year 2010).

Anyone who looks at the Galaxy S8 or the Mi Mix instantly appreciates the bezel-less design and it is expected that the upcoming iPhone 8 will also sport similar borderless display. In fact it seems to be the future of evolution for smartphones in general from here on. However, Google doesn't think that it is necessary to adopt that design as their "only" option yet. Make no mistake, all leaks and rumors are still suggesting that the Pixel XL 2 will be sporting a borderless display, but the regular and smaller Google Pixel 2 will apparently, not be as lucky.

Take a look at the picture and tell me if you think it looks exactly like last year's Google Pixel made by HTC or not. I ask this because it looks like that to me at least! Also, if this leak by VentureBeats is to be believed then the Pixel 2 won't have a dual camera either, but then again, that's true for the Pixel XL 2 as well unfortunately.

If you own a device that got updated to Android 6.0, you might have noticed something strange about the system clock on your phone. Many complaints have been filed in the Google Code site about the clock running slow after updating to the Android 6.0. This can make the alarms and event reminders set from your calendar absolutely useless.

We're not discussing about a 30 second difference, or even five minutes. As per Nexus users posting on the Issue Tracker (Issue # 189789), the time mismatch can go up to 30 minutes. Some have managed to fix the issue by turning on Airplane mode and then reverting to normal mode again. But this solution won't apply to all the devices.

Rebooting the smartphone is a fix that has resolved the issue for many, but others have reported that switching to a 3G network setting from 4G will get the phone's clock synced with the network.

Updating to Android 6.0.1, will fix the system clock and you won't be late for work anymore or miss appointments. So the modus operandi is to keep trying one of the workarounds until Android 6.0.1 is pushed to your device.
