Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is testing a smartphone with a new operating system Hongmeng, the company's OS developed in-house. This device can go on sale by the end of this year, as Chinese state-media Global times reported. Earlier this year, Huawei had to face trade sanctions from Trump administration which forces to cancel all trades with the company. This led to an international crisis for the Chinese company. While the Huawei band only came into effect this year. The company choose to develop its own operating system after Google refused to continue its license for Android OS. The company has also contributed to develop Android operating system.

We don't have much information about the new OS - Hongmeng. But Huawei executives has referred it as an operating system designed for interconnecting the internet-of-things products. An upcoming Honor TVs is expect to have the Hongmeng as its operating system. The company is using Android as its preferred operating system in the mobile devices so far, but the switch could happen in the near future, bringing Hongmeng to more devices.

In the past, no smartphone manufacturer has attempted such a bold attempt. Android has been the best alternative for non-iPhone users. People are not sure about the future of the company or its operating system but still they are excited to see something strong as Android's rival. It will take a lots of research, support of open-source community and devlopers by the world's second-largest smartphone manufacturer to be able to break-in to the system. Even with this global crisis, Huawei managed to grow by 23% in the first half of 2019. Another information was about the price. The device is expected to be priced around 2,000 yuan ($288). The company hasn't refer any name for this device so far.

Teardowns of the S7 and S7 Edge had revealed a curious flat piping system around the CPU of the two devices and Samsung has now confirmed it to be a cooling system designed for mobile gamers. This cooling apparatus is actually an incredibly slim thermal spreader that is linked with the Game Launcher apparatus designed to keep the devices cool even during intense 3D gaming for long stretches.

An interview with the engineering team of Samsung smartphones revealed that this little heat pipe is the smallest and thinnest heat spreader made for a smartphone till date. In fact, those little flat pipes might even be the most compact ones available in the market today. The pipe which is 0.4mm in diameter and has a space of 0.2mm inside was designed from scratch as there was nothing readymade in the industry which the engineers could use successfully without tampering with the design of the S7 series. There was experimentation with different metal mesh and alloys by the engineers and as a result, the tiny thermal spreader is fifty-times for conducive to heat, when compared to pure copper!

A very small amount of water inside the flat pipe helps in spreading the heat evenly. As the temperature rises high enough near the processor, the water evaporates and moves to the cooler side where it then condenses back into liquid form. The liquid water travels back near the processor and the cycle continues. This ingenious apparatus is the reason as to why thermal-throttling will never be an issue with the S7 series of smartphones (hopefully).

Chrome OS Android OS

Android and Chrome OS SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer has said that Google is "very committed" to Chrome OS. The company had already confirmed earlier that the project isn't being killed.

Reports that Google is working on merging the Chrome OS and Android OS into a single operating system. The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal but has since been confirmed by the search giant. The new OS, which is in the works for the past couple of years, is expected to be ready for a preview next year, but would be launched only in 2017.

The move would result in PC users getting access to Google Play, which is currently home to millions of apps. In addition, Chromebooks the lightweight and portable laptops that got their name from the Chrome OS will also get a new name. The Chrome browser, however, won't be affected in any way.

Chrome OS

It's worth mentioning that Google's newly-announced CEO Sundar Pichai has been heading both Android and Chrome OS divisions for the past two years. "Mobile as a computing paradigm is eventually going to blend with what we think of as desktop today," he said last week.

If you own a device that got updated to Android 6.0, you might have noticed something strange about the system clock on your phone. Many complaints have been filed in the Google Code site about the clock running slow after updating to the Android 6.0. This can make the alarms and event reminders set from your calendar absolutely useless.

We're not discussing about a 30 second difference, or even five minutes. As per Nexus users posting on the Issue Tracker (Issue # 189789), the time mismatch can go up to 30 minutes. Some have managed to fix the issue by turning on Airplane mode and then reverting to normal mode again. But this solution won't apply to all the devices.

Rebooting the smartphone is a fix that has resolved the issue for many, but others have reported that switching to a 3G network setting from 4G will get the phone's clock synced with the network.

Updating to Android 6.0.1, will fix the system clock and you won't be late for work anymore or miss appointments. So the modus operandi is to keep trying one of the workarounds until Android 6.0.1 is pushed to your device.

The World's most popular Mobile Operating Systems, Android. The whole thing started when Google acquired a tiny startup called Android Inc. in 2005. Originally, Android was made for digital cameras. Google paid $50 million and took Android to its HQ.

After whipping the OS into a market-ready shape for the HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1), which shipped in 2008 running Android 1.0, Google has been through 12 generations of the green bot already, each being nothing less than a milestone and mobile technology development driver.

Android's history makes for an engaging, but quite a lengthy read! The infographic stretches from Android's murky, Linux-derived 2008 beginnings all the way to the present greatness that is Android M. The most important additions in each versions, along with their representative flagship phones are highlighted and illustrated.

moto

If you like Moto smartphones, then this leak has to be an exciting one for you. The Lenovo owned company, Moto has announced to release several smartphones this year. One of which will be the Moto G series phone powered by Snapdragon 800. This phone has already launched in China as the Moto Edge S and will get a global rebranding as the Moto G100. Another phone that we are going to witness this year by the same company is the Moto G30.

Moto G30 and Moto G10 are expected to be released this year. None of these mobiles is the successor to the Moto G from the previous year, however, the Moto G30 shares some of its specs with the Moto G9 released in August 2020. Recently, a few renders of Moto G30 were surfaced on the internet. As seen in the renders, the Moto G30 features a waterdrop notch. The phone features a 6.5-inch display screen with a resolution of 1600x720 which is the same display as that of the Moto G9 with a slightly higher refresh rate. The rear design of the phone is however completely different. The camera array at the rear panel sites on the left side of the phone. Whereas the Moto G9 had a camera system in the middle of the rear panel.

Moto G30 has four camera sensors at the rear side, including a 64MP primary camera sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera sensor, a 2MP depth camera sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. One of the smaller 2MP cameras is placed in a subspace with the primary camera housing along with the LED flash. To ensure secure access to the phone, there is also an optical fingerprint scanner being placed on the rear side too.

The renders show that the phone has a USB-C port on the right side of the device. We can't see the sides in the render but it is safe to assume that the phone has an audio jack along with a SIM tray. The right side of the device is dedicated to the physical buttons to activate Google Assistance, control volume, and power. The Moto G30 will feature a Snapdragon processor with 4GB or 6GB RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage. It will have a 90Hz refresh rate, a microSD card, and a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging. The phone will carry the price tag of $199.
