Samsung has always been favorable towards the Galaxy A devices when it comes to providing fast, security updates and the month of July is no exception either. The Galaxy A6 is being updated with the July patch in Europe (Netherlands, Spain and Germany), but if you own the handset in some other region, it should not take too long for the patch to be released everywhere. The firmware version released for this month is A600FNXXU2ARF7 for the A6.
The Galaxy A8 and A8+ has already been updated with the July patch in most sections, but just in case you won one of the two handsets and have not received it yet, don't worry because it will probably arrive by the end of the week. Although the update is routine security and does not mention any specific big bug fix, each and every one of the security patches are very important these days so download and install it as soon as it becomes available. The only visible change you will see after the update is that a "Secured by Knox" image will pop up each time the phone boots on.

Samsung's flagship smartphones are considered to be the most secure Android options, after Google's own Pixel series, but that idea is under some scrutiny now. Apparently, the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S9/S9+ have developed a bug that sends the user's photos to random contacts via SMS! As if that was not bad enough, consider the fact that the bug leaves no trace of this unauthorized activity for the user to realize what has happened either.
This bug is not a rumor as Samsung is already investigating the issue and they have even set up a helpline: 1-800-SAMSUNG for customers. Most are of the opinion that this bug is a result of the Rich Communication Services (RCS) update sent out by carriers across the US. Although T-Mobile has denied responsibility for this, RCS is the likely cause, especially since both the update and the bug are exclusive to the USA.

Galaxy S9 and S9+ users on T-Mobile have not had a good experience this year as the carrier was not left with any other option but to stop rolling out the month's security update back in April. Unfortunately, it has now been two months or more ever since the rollout was stopped, yet they have not yet sent out any security updates from that day onwards, that is until now of course!
T-Mobile has just started pushing out a new update for their customers and we are happy to report that it is indeed the security update of the month, that is June 2018, as is evident from the screenshot. In case you own any of the two smartphones on AT&T or Sprint, some reports are suggesting that the two carriers are also pushing out the same update for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ on their networks.

We are nearing the end of the month's third week, but Samsung has only just started rolling out this month's updates to its arsenal of eligible smartphones. The latest names on that list are those of the Galaxy S8, Galaxy J7 pro and the Galaxy A9 Star Lite, which are receiving the June patch in USA, India and China respectively.
In case you own a Galaxy A6 or A6+, expect the same update to start hitting the two models very soon as well. The thing is that the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is the rebranded Chinese version of the Galaxy A6+ and that means the update for the A6+ should go live any day now. The more interesting question is, where is the June security patch for the Galaxy S9 and S9+? In spite of being the latest flagship smartphones in the company's arsenal, Samsung has not been very regular or prompt with updating the two devices and that is raising some questions. On the other hand, this also shows that Samsung does not restrict security patches from rolling out to low - mid range phones, just because the same for the more expensive devices are not yet ready.

UK was the first region to see Oreo ship out for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge back in May, but now other regions are also joining the list. India has just joined in as one of the regions that are getting the Android 8.0 update for the S7 and S7 Edge in June, alongside UAE. If you live in Europe or South Korea however, you probably already have the update installed, but that's to be expected.
The firmware version carrying the Android Oreo upgrade is G930FXXU2EREM for the Galaxy S7 and G935FXXU2EREM for the Galaxy S7 Edge. Both updates are around the 1.4 GB mark, with firmware version G935FXXU2EREM being slightly larger in size than G930FXXU2EREM. The update patch included with the package is from April though and that's a bit disappointing, given that we are already into the second week of June! Feel free to check for the update manually from the Settings menu, but it you will be prompted once it lands on your smartphone via OTA anyway.

Both the flagship handsets from 2016 and 2017 are getting some care from AT&T in the form of a firmware update. Not much was made clear by the source of the news or the change log, but it is clear that this is a security update. Whether this is any version of the Android monthly updates or not is something that we are not sure of either. In any case, you should download and install it as soon as possible, since carriers in the US seldom push out updates unless they are necessary (that's not always a good thing mind you!).
The update is arriving on all the six models in the Galaxy S7 and S8 series, which include the S7, S7 Edge, S7 Active, S8, S8+ and the S8 Active. As per The Android Soul, the following are the firmware build numbers for the respective devices.
S7, S7 Edge and S7 Active: BRD1
S8 and S8+: CRD4
S8 Active: BRD4
Unfortunately for S7 users in the US who are on AT&T, all three devices are still running on Android Nougat, in spite of the OS being on the verge of becoming outdated.

Samsung has not had a great time with the Galaxy S9 and S9+ due to the calling issues which most of the models are facing. Calls are either being muted, distorted or dropped entirely by the smartphone and this has even led some Israeli users to sue the company for malpractice and negligence. The unfortunate news is that certain unofficial reports are claiming that the problem cannot be solved with updates at all as the issue is with the hardware itself. This could also explain as to why so many updates have so far failed to bring any significant solution to the problem. Nevertheless, Samsung has just started sending out another patch via OTA, that could potentially solve this issue.
The good news here is that plenty of users have since reported that this might have fixed all the calling issues on the S9 and S9+ after all! So, if you own either the Galaxy S9 or the Galaxy S9+, do make sure that you have downloaded and installed firmware versions G960FXXU1ARD4 and G965FXXU1ARD4 for the S9 and S9+ already, provided of course, it has become available to your region. Let us know what your experiences are post the update.

Update your Samsung smartphones and tablets with the latest firmware on this list but only after going through our tutorial first to learn how you can flash the firmware manually onto your smartphone or tablet.
We are now used to seeing Android security patches of the month making their way onto budget Samsung smartphones first and this month is no exception to that recent trend either. However, instead of a device in the company's Galaxy A series like in the previous month, we have the Galaxy J2 Pro in May which is getting this month's security patch first among Samsung's recent arsenal of smartphones. Although some are of the opinion that the flagships should be updated first, we think that this is actually a good move by the Korean OEM as it shows that they roll out updates as soon as they are ready, without prioritizing one over the other just for the sake of their price point.
The update should be making rounds in Bangladesh as of now but if you are in any other region where the device is sold, it should not be long before the same OTA package makes its way onto your device as well. In the meanwhile, do check out all available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets on YouMobile's firmware section.

It has hardly been twenty-four hours since the report was published that Samsung is about to release Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in May and it has already started on the very first day of the month! Yes, the much awaited Oreo update for the S7 and the S7 Edge is now live in the UK and possibly certain other European regions as well, by the time you read this. Now that the rollout has begun, it means that the same update will be arriving in your region pretty soon. It's a surprising development, albeit a pleasant one.
Seeing how fast the update has been released, it would be safe to say that all Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge models will very likely be running on Android 8.0 Oreo by the previously rumored deadline of May 18. If you are in the UK and you have a Galaxy S7, firmware version G930FXXU2ERD5 should be making its way onto your device via OTA anytime now. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 Edge users will be seeing the G935FXXU2ERD5 firmware land on their devices.

Android 8.0 Oreo might be an old OS for Pixel users by now, but it is a version of the Android OS that is has still not arrived on a lot of third-party devices. Samsung is not exactly known to be fast at rolling out the firmware updates and especially when it comes to major Android OS upgrades, but what one can rely on the South Korean company for is the fact that their flagships will eventually get all the major Android upgrades for at least two years from their release. Staying true to that reputation, Samsung will in all likelihood, release the firmware update for the S7 and S7 Edge by May 18.
This fact was confirmed after the two devices were seen being tested and certified on Wi-Fi Alliance. The good news for our readers in the US is that all the US carrier variants have also been certified and will thus receive the Oreo update pretty soon as well. However, since carrier rollouts are subject to the scheduling of the carriers themselves, we are not sure which carrier will be releasing the update when. In any case, it should not be too long now.

We are almost near the end of April and by now, most major Samsung smartphones should have been updated to Android Oreo 8.0, but it has not happened so unfortunately. While the likes of the Galaxy S8, S8+, Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy A5 2017 are still in the process of getting the update in some regions, most others have not even started to receive the elusive OS upgrade yet. In case you have a Samsung smartphone and you are interested in knowing whether or not your device qualifies for Oreo, go through the list below.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ have just started to receive the April security patch in Germany, but we wouldn't be surprised if you are seeing the same update arrive for you in some other region as well. The security update patches in eight bugs in Samsung's own software and multiple other security threats to the Android OS that's running underneath. If you own the Galaxy S8, you should see the update arrive as firmware version G950FXXU1CRD7, while firmware version G955FXXU1CRD7 is making its way to the Galaxy S8+ owners in Germany (and hopefully all the other regions soon). The update is roughly 570MB in size as per reports.
More interestingly, both the updates are expected to bring improvements to the cameras of the two smartphones. Since the improvements are described only as "stability," it's hard to tell if it really improves anything noticeably. I will add though that ever since the Oreo upgrade, my Galaxy S8 has not been producing images as sharp as it used to, so I am hoping that this will change that for the better. Additionally, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionalities will also be improved by the update and I can personally vouch for the fact that at least the S8 I won definitely needs an improvement on both fronts!

Now that Samsung has mostly finished upgrading all its recent flagships and some high-end smartphones with the Android Oreo 8.0 update, the company has shifted its focus towards mid-rangers and the Galaxy A5 (2017) is reportedly the first lucky device in the segment to receive the latest (major) version of the Android OS. We know that it isn't most timely of updates but given how many handsets will never even get Oreo, we think the owners of the Galaxy A5 (2017) should be pretty happy. It doesn't really come as a big surprise though as the A5 (2017) was already on Samsung's update list and just a few weeks ago, the handset was seen getting tested with Android 8.0 on Wi-Fi Alliance.
As of now, reports indicate that Russia is where the roll out started, but it should spread to most of the other regions pretty soon as well. Expect the OTA package to weigh in at around 1.2GB, but the firmware version was not mentioned by the source. Nevertheless, if you look closely, you can probably make it out from the screenshots and it looks to be A520FXXU4CRD3.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017) had both received a major camera update from Samsung a few months back, but the budget device Galaxy A3 (2017) was left out of the fold. The good news is that the A3 (2017) has also started to receive a similar camera update now and the OTA package comes in packed with last month's security updates from Google and Samsung as well. Although it's technically the middle of April, that's all the more reason for you to download and install it as soon as possible.
As far as the camera improvements are concerned, they can be listed as the following, but there could also be some minor improvements in terms of picture quality and post processing.
· AR Stickers are now part of the camera on the A3 (2017)
· Selfie focus mode is now included, which will allow the camera to take a selfie with a blurred background, similar to a bokeh effect
