Note 4 Lollipop

We already saw the Hands-on video of the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop 5.0.1 updateHowever, Samsung didn't release the update yet on any region, even the old Galaxy Note 3 got its official Lollipop update in some regions...

Where's the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop Update ?

Well, it turns out that Samsung delayed the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop 5.0.1 update due to compatibility issues with Samsung Gear VR. Samsung needs to make sure that the Gear VR will work well on the Note 4 Lollipop ROM, so far the Galaxy Note 4 ROM is still in the hands of Oculus VR who are tweaking the kernel to ensure its compatibility with the Samsung Gear VR.

Samsung Gear VR is Samsung's current take on virtual reality headset based on the popular Oculus Rift. While compatibility issues might explain the delay the question still stands why this can't be achieved in a later update. It looks like Gear VR is very important to Samsung that it delayed the full Lollipop roll-out for it.

Looks like the Note 3 is beating the Galaxy Note 4 in the race to get Lollipop. The update brings the modern Material design to the 2013 phablet. Samsung's TouchWiz overlay on the Note 3 was criticized for not being optimized for the large screen, and that is now going to change.

Samsung is currently testing its Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 To confirm this news, an official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop ROM for the S4 has been leaked online today. The files were posted on a Chinese forum and spread around on XDA. Seems like the Galaxy S4 users will skip the 5.0 Update and get 5.0.1 directly.

The Leaked ROM is packs Android 5.0.1 build and according to the original source should be good for GT-I9500/9502/9508/9508v versions. The nice folks over at XDA have been playing around with the new software for a few hours now and it appears to be a legitimate official Samsung firmware as opposed to the recent Aurora ports of the leaked Note 3 software. A few things need to be noted about the Galaxy S4 ROM, though.

A stock English keyboard is also missing, but that is easily fixable. Other than that the build seems to be doing well in terms of functionality. NFC, sbeam, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G DATA, Wi-Fi, all sensors for motion and light, hotspot function, Multiwindow all seem to be in working order, as reported by various early adopters.

note 4

Samsung has updated the user manual for the Galaxy Note 4 to reflect on the changes the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update is bringing. The firmware update is anticipated to land some time this month and the latest manual is a strong indication that the wait for owners of the phone will soon be over.

A video demonstrating Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 surfaced last month. In it, we saw that the general look and fell of TouchWiz UI is left untouched, with the new release bringing only minor visual changes most notable in the notification area.

note 4

There should be a lot more going on under the hood though with expected major performance boost and improved battery thanks to Project Volta.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop BETA ROM has been leaked online from the XDA forum, a thread on the developers forum now offers a download link along with a full set of instructions for a manual flash.

So the update seems to be as real as it gets, but unsurprisingly it is an early beta, that just happened to accidentally slip through the cracks. Screenshots seem to showcase a white menu background which looks like a very poor choice as it might cause the Super AMOLED display to draw way more power than it needs to. Hopefully Samsung will address this issue before the official OTA hits.

note 3 lollipop

The leaked version of Android Lollipop does seem to be functioning, but reading through the XDA forum is appears to be riddled with bugs, which of course is expected from a beta not intended in any way for public use.

The Galaxy ALPHA is the culmination of our close collaboration with Samsung."

Samsung is planning on Updating its Latest flagship Phablet, the Galaxy Note 4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop by the End of this Month. Today, We got a closer look at a fully working Lollipop TouchWiz ROM on the Note 4 with a new look with a Hands-on Video too.

The general look and feel of the UI is still very much TouchWiz, to the point where most people will find them indistinguishable. There are only minor changes in the UI, most notably in the notification area, but that's pretty much it. Samsung is still sticking to its own UI design and only making minor modification to fit in with the new Material Design of Lollipop. Check the video below!

Samsung's TouchWiz UI is included on all its devices, it's interface has improved a lot lately but it's functionally and customization-ability still needs improvements. Finally, it looks like Samsung decided to make it easier for TouchWiz to customize their phones.

With Android 5.0 Lollipop, Samsung will add theming support to the New TouchWiz UI to offer the ability to quickly change the look of the device and often goes beyond just changing the UI Colors, wallpapers and icons. As you can see on the photo above a "Themes setting screen" is visible on the Galaxy S5 running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop build from Samsung.

Samsung lollipop

It's not clear how extensive the customizations via the Themes will be or which devices will get the new functionality presumably the current and last year's Galaxy S and Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Alphas too. Another change is that the S Finder button has been moved to the upper left corner and the Quick Connect button is gone.

This will save some space in the notification area. This Update should hit unlocked Galaxy S5 devices Later Next Month (December).

Note 3 Lollipop

Samsung is getting ready to update its devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop, here's how the Lollipop update will look like on the Galaxy note 3 and the Galaxy S4. These devices is going to get the new software update too, and here's what it will look like.

note 3 lollipop

With the Lollipop update, Samsung is bringing the Quick Settings styling first seen in the Galaxy S5 to the Note 3. Otherwise, the design here is a mishmash of Lollipop guidelines and some remnants of Samsung's much-beloved TouchWiz.

Take the Settings app. It's different than it was before, it has a light theme just like in Google's Lollipop, but it's not actually identical to that. Samsung apparently isn't able to keep itself from modifying everything that comes from Google, even if we're talking small touches here and there.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is about to make its international debut and already the company is issuing the first software update for the device. The firmware number of the latest update is XXU1ANJ4 and at 36MB it is quite small.

That's because it's quite specific and aims at improving battery performance as well as overall stability. Galaxy Note 4's battery does excellently with an endurance rating of 87 hours. With the latest update though, you should expect the Galaxy Note 4 to do even better than that.

Android L Official release is coming very soon, We can now take a sneak peak at the Official Samsung Galaxy S5 Android L update. The preview ROM is here, its build on the latest Android L developer preview build. Samsung is working hard on bringing the Android L to its latest "S" family flagship.

Galaxy S5 Android L

Samsung improved the TouchWiz UI on Android L, Many eye-candy Enhancements... from the basic small system icons to the build-in Apps, everything is "almost" Materiel design ready. I don't need to remind you that it's a beta ROM build on a developer preview, it's not the Officially final ROM, yet.

As for the UI changes,Take for example the Settings menu. This is now white, and not blue. On the other hand, the quick settings in the notification shade look very similar to those in Samsung's KitKat release for the Galaxy S5.

The good thing is that Samsung's built-in apps (such as Dialer, Memo, Clock, and so on) have been redesigned according to Material Design guidelines (though they aren't finished yet, as they have no animations at this point).

The new lock screen from Google's Android L makes an appearance in Samsung's vision, but sadly the amount of notifications it can show is only two (compared to four in the stock OS).
