Samsung Mobile official Facebook page broke the news that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has officially made its way to Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II.

As you can notice in the screenshot above, the update is currently seeding to devices in Europe, as well as Korea. The rest of the world will follow in the nearest future.

Samsung Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, and Galaxy Tab Tab 8.9 and 10.1 are noted as next in line for the major update. Samsung released all its new smartphones on all China's carriers and as a result of this Samsung now has 24.3-percent of the market compared to Apple that hardly gained 7.5-percent of the Market only. This is a remarkable achievement, considering the competition from Nokia, Huawei and ZTE there.

Samsung will launch a New Galaxy Phone later this month in India, Its the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus. Indian online retailer Flipkart says it will ship on 21, March. For now though, Flipkart is already accepting pre-orders for the phone, which will cost 16,275 INR (approximately $330 USD).

During 2011, Tether submitted its iTether app to the App Store to let users tether to their iPhones even if the functionality was not available by default from the carrier. Although Apple initially allowed the app, it was later removed from the App store as apple was saying that the app burdens the network.

You May Remember Nokia GEM, It is a concept from Nokia where the entire device is a touchscreen. Interestingly, Samsung has filed for a patent for a similar technology, at least the display part of it.

Samsung invention enables a user to take a photo or choose an image and electronically wrap it around the device. The design can be altered at anytime. It is essentially a smart skin. In its filings Samsung notes that the smart skin can be built-in to future devices or sold as an add-on accessory for older ones.

Essentially the layer of film would extend beyond the devices screen to encompass the external case. Samsung envisions the user being able to combine the display image with the skin image to view it as one connected image across the device.

Google has updated its Maps Application for Android with minor small change and some bug fixes. The new version was pushed out to the Google Play Store today, and it brings Google Maps to version 6.4.0.

The only change made in this version was in the design of the menu in Navigation mode. The menu has been changed from a list of text-only options to a more touch-friendly version laid out with some icons to quickly help you find what you need.

Reports from the XDA Forums confirms that HTC is rolling-out the ICS 4.0.3 Update OTA to HTC Sensation XE with HTC Sense 3.6.

The new maximum application size of 4GB does not necessarily mean the size of the APK will be increased... but rather the Android Market will host the application expansion files. This will help the Google keep a closer eye on when a user completely finishes the download of a large application to properly start the refund period.

Ubisoft has just released the first trailer for Assassin's Creed 3, the next part of the Assassin creed series, The Game is set for release on October 31, 2012. Android ICS 4.0 was launched on November 17, 2011 along with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but like every new software, had some few bugs. Due to this, Google had to release the first update which was the ICS 4.0.2 on November 28 which is very close to the device release date. This version also has some bugs too.

Rumors is still circling around the Galaxy S III and samsung still deny all the rumors. Finally, Samsung revealed some details surrounding its next flagship Android smartphone. In fact, they specifically say: 

 

"The successor to the GALAXY S II smartphone will be unveiled in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. We cannot confirm the detailed information at the moment.", said Samsung

Not all of us know that iPhone uses Corning Glass on its screen. However, Apple never confirmed this officially before, Apple even removed Corning from its 2011 list of suppliers. The Samsung Galaxy S III is certainly the most anticipated device of this whole year. Samsung 2012 flagship has now allegedly been confirmed to launch as early as April, soon after its official announcement which is yet to come. ZDNet Korea reports about the launch date after it spoke with Cheil Worldwide, Samsung marketing and ad agency, which is preparing the device for the market in the UK.

Now, it looks like ZDNet refers to the official arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S III to shelves in April, at least in the first markets of availability. We are not yet clear about when the device will arrive stateside, but we expect it to be later on in the year.

Mozilla Foundation at the MWC 2012 showed its New Platform that called "Boot2Gecko", a cloud based open-source Mobile OS, Which is coded entirely with HTML5, CSS and Javascript.

Boot2Gecko is using the latest open web standards for its apps, which means that apps written for it will be compatible with just about any smartphone running the OS, or even every device with an HTML5-enabled browser. I have been using the Documents To Go PDF viewer for PDF attachments, but after just a few minutes with the one found in Quickoffice I think I found my new default viewer. I like the way Quickoffice has quick toggles between page view and reading view. Reading view reflows the text in your PDF document so you can read it with just vertical scrolling rather than full page vertical and horizontal scrolling. It even keeps data in tables quite well in reading view and zooms in to a very readable level. You can jump to pages quickly, conduct fast searches that will highlight search terms in green, zoom in and out, and rotate the document. It is quite a good PDF viewer.

Another Day, Another iOS vulnerability, A security issue has been identified in iOS which gives 3d party applications and its developers secretly access to your photos without permissions.

According to The New York Times who uncovered this issue, an application that has the permission to use your location can also access your photos. They demonstrated this by commissioning a developer to create a dummy app (which was not submitted to the App Store) that popped up a notification asking the user for location (as seen above) and when provided had complete access to the photos stored on the device.

When contacted, Apple declined to comment about this issue.

Apple just sent out invitations to an event next Wednesday to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Besides the time and location information, the invite only says "We have something you really need to see. And touch." The words are superimposed on what is almost certainly an iPad.

The San Francisco location contradicts a rumor from earlier today that said the event would be held in New York City. Many expressed doubt over that rumor since it goes against almost every previous Apple product unveiling, which are typically held on the West Coast.

Along with the PureView 41MP camera phone, Nokia announced Skype for Windows Phone at their press event at MWC. The beta version is available now at the Windows Phone Marketplace, with a full release expected in April and it should work on most phones running at least version 7.5 of WP.

Samsung and Rovio announced today they will be partnering on the release of the new Angry Birds Space game. The highlight of the new game, as the name suggests will be low gravity and, as you will see in the teaser video, there is a new kind of birds.

After buying Ericsson share in SonyEricsson, Sony announced two new Xperia smartphones at the MWC 2012 yesterday, part of the Xperia NXT lineup the affordable Xperia U and the high-end Xperia P. We got their prices and Specs too.

The Xperia U is going to cost €259. As you should probably know already - it will come with two exchangeable bottom plastic caps depending on the main color. The white Xperia U has white and yellow bottom plastics, while the black phone comes with black and pink ones.

Samsung Officially announced the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, which features an S Pen. It also features a dual-core CPU, clocked at 1.4GHz, HSPA+ connectivity and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 also packs some quite interesting software tricks. One of them is multi-screen functionality. It enables you to watch videos or browse the web, while sketching out notes with the S Pen. The 10.1" screen is certainly helpful here. The said feaure also makes the tablet a seriously useful educational tool.

At the MWC 2012, Nokia showed PureView Phone that was teased before with the 41 Megapixel Camera (YES, Its not a Typo, 41.0 MP Exactly) running Symbian Belle Nokia and called "Nokia PureView 808". It is possibly the highest Camera Phone sensor in the World, yet.

The Nokia 808 PureView uses a 41 MP sensor, which captures image data from seven adjacent pixels and condenses it into one, resulting in stills at around 5 MP resolution with amazing detail and low noise levels. Video recording goes as high as FullHD 1080p at 30 fps and there is also 720p@30fps. Video is H264 encoded and supports stereo sound. The large image sensor allows 4x zoom in 1080p and 6x in 720p. The HTC One X is the HTC flagship everybody was holding their breath for. The phone mark a new direction for HTC towards less quantity and more quality, and they certainly mean it. Also HTC made the 4G version with Name HTC One XL for AT&T with the same specs but with 4G (LTE) support.

The One X packs the NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC with 4-PLUS-1 processors on board and 1GB of RAM. It also running Android 4.0 ICS and the popular HTC Sense 4.0 UI on top. And it looks stunning.

Speaking of Android 4.0 and Sense 4.0, they look magnificent on the One X non-pentile Super LCD 2 display. Colors are vivid and the overall brightness is good on the massive 4.7-inch 720p HD display.

The display of the One X is covered in 3D Gorilla Glass, which is another way of saying the screen glass is tapered on the edges as on the Nokia N9 and Lumia 800. The whole body of the phone is one piece of polycarbonate plastic, just like the N9.

Undoubtedly, the 8MP camera at the back is one of the headlines. It shoots 1080p full HD video and has what HTC call the "Double Shutter", meaning the One X can snap stills while shooting videos without interrupting the video capture. The f/2.0 lens aperture and the BSI sensor should fix the problems plaguing HTC cameras of old.

After one Month of testing by the developers, the MeeGo 1.2 Update goes live for the N9 users. The update size is about 284MB and it may take a while to install too. But it is well worth the wait. With it, you will get to make video calls and finally put that front-facing camera of the Nokia N9 to good use. MeeGo 1.2 also offers folders in the app launcher so you can get the place more organized.

Other improvements include updates to the camera and gallery and copy/paste functionality with brackets.

Nokia Lumia 610 pictured below, will be the company entry level Windows Phone handset. The device is expected to feature a 3.2-inch screen, 3MP camera, and Windows Phone Tango on board. Given the nature of the new OS, it should not be a surprise if the device comes with 256MB of RAM.

 

The Nokia Lumia 610 will reportedly be priced at 175 EURO, when it hits the shelves. India will be one of the first markets to receive the device. Next in line is the global version of the Nokia Lumia 900. The AT&T version caused quite a splash during CES, so there is no surprise here.

MWC 2012 Starts with some HOT Samsung announcements, Samsung has just announced her latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and This tablet is built around a 10.1-inch PLS LCD and runs on the latest Android release 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The screen resolution of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is identical to that of the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 1280 x 800 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU and packs 1 GB of RAM. The internal storage options are 16GB and 32GB and there is a microSD card slot on both versions.

There are a couple of cameras on board the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back, which can capture 1080p video and a VGA one at the front for video-chatting purposes. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is actually a bit thicker (9.7mm vs 8.6mm) and heavier (588g vs 560g) than the Galaxy Tab 10.1 even though the two have identical 7000 mAh batteries.

Google is highly expected to launch the "Google Nexus tablet" this summer. The device will reportedly offer a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution, Google will produce around 1.5 to the 2 million units initially. The tablet may also be Manufactured my Motorola.

The Nexus Tablet is rumored to cost $199 ONLY. The OS is currently rumored to be ICS 4.0, but Jelly Bean 5.0 is not out of the question as the tablet could see the light of day at the I/O developer conference, which is scheduled for late June this summer. So we can expect a JB Tablet from Google, it will also be the first Jelly bean Device on the Market too. Why Not? Google has the right to Exclusively put the OS on her devices first!

Samsung Upcoming Flagship Galaxy S III smartphone will pack a Huge 4.8-inch display, according to the latest rumors, along with the unusual choice of ceramic rather than plastic for the back panel. The display has not been detailed by BGR insiders as to technology or resolution, though a Super AMOLED Plus likely offering at least 720p HD. Also The reports confirm the Quad-core chipset inside the galaxy S III, this Exynos chipset is also made by samsung and it was revealed a day ago by samsung.

As for the ceramic, it is a relatively unique choice of material for a smartphone, though the Galaxy S III would not be the first to sport it. Luxury phone brand Vertu has used ceramics before, though the company handsets certainly are not as advanced as the GSIII is expected to be. The key benefit would be in avoiding plastic which makes the current Galaxy S II feel somewhat cheap in comparison to rivals but not switching to metal, which usually requires more complex antenna designs to counterbalance the material radio blocking potential.

Samsung other rumored ambition with the Galaxy S III that it will be 7mm thick Only seems to be coming true. The company supposedly set its engineers the challenge of trimming down the already slimline GSII with the next-gen variant, and apparently only the 8-megapixel camera will be able to fit on this 7mm body.

 

A new report out of Strategy Analytics today claims that Nokia took the title of world largest Windows Phone vendor in the last full quarter from HTC, a remarkable feat if accurate, that is considering that it was not even in the Windows Phone business in the quarter prior.

The market intelligence firm reports platform market share numbers throughout the year, and it says that Windows Phone shipped a total of 2.7 million units in Q4, of which some 33.1 percent were Nokia devices nearly 900,000 units. Nokia launched both the Lumia 800 and 710 in certain markets during the quarter, but the deployments were limited: the 710 had not hit either Europe or the US at that point, and the 800 arguably the more important of the two had not come to North America.

HTC upcoming One S mid-range device has just got some early Hands-on Photos, before its announcement tomorrow at the MWC 2012.

The One S is going to be positioned under the quad-core One X, and bound to pack a serious punch for a mid-range device. The smartphone is expected to feature a dual-core CPU, 4.3-inch AMOLED display, 8MP camera, Beats Audio, and Android 4.0 ICS with Sense 4.0.

As you can also see from the photos above, the HTC One S is seriously slimmer than the Sensation a welcome change from the current HTC offerings.

The Acer CloudMobile was recently shown off at an event in Milan, Italy to the press. We found a Hands-on video on Youtube but Sadly its not in English!

The Acer CloudMobile is easily the most interesting phone to have come out of Acer. In fact, it won an iF design award even before it was officially launched. But it is not just the design that is great about it. The CloudMobile also comes loaded with some pretty great features.

Acer Cloud Mobile specs Starts with an Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which instantly earns it major brownie points. Next it has a 4.3-inch, 720p display with on-screen virtual controls, just like on the Galaxy Nexus. The device in the video above also has a separate row of capacitive keys below the display but that can be excused since it is a prototype device. The device shown in the press images does not have these extra keys.

Even if Samsung announced that it will not reveal any new devices at the MWC. Today, Samsung has filed four new trademarks names for its Upcoming Mid-range Smartphones. These Names are:

• Samsung Galaxy Axiom

• Samsung Galaxy Awaken

• Samsung Galaxy Heir

• Samsung Galaxy Rite

These New names are a little bit weird but we do Not have any confirmation when samsung will release any phones with these names, yet.

Samsung gave an early peek at its first Quad-core mobile application processor at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference here. The unannounced chip is Samsung first to use its 32 nm high-k metal gate process and sports advances in performance and battery life over its existing 45 nm Exynos chips. This chip will also be the One that will power the Upcoming Galaxy Flagship (Galaxy S III), thats is supposed to be coming in Q2, 2012 with ICS on baord.

The new chip comes in versions using two or four ARM Cortex A9 cores running at rates from 200 MHz to 1.5 GHz along with a 64-bit ARM Neon media processing block. The cores share a 1 Mbyte L2 cache with a snoop control unit. The chip does not include an integrated baseband.

The chip supports two LPDDR2 or DDR3 interfaces running up to 400 MHz for a total memory bandwidth of up to 6.4 Gbytes/s.

Samsung said the new chip delivers up to 26.3 percent improvements in video frame rates. In a demo, Samsung showed the chip using 48 percent less power on 3-D calculations and 45 percent less power in CPU jobs than the 45 nm chip.

Wifi N-Draft (which most of the current devices has!) will consider to be Old by the End of this Year, Qualcomm Atheros says that the next-generation of WiFi wireless Networking will roll-out in a smoother manner than past industry transitions with less confusion for consumers. The new 802.11ac technology, also known as 5G WiFi, promises blazing fast internet access that is several times faster than today existing network speeds for 802.11n chips.

Rob Chandhok, Qualcomm president of internet services and senior vice president, said in an interview that the 802.11ac technology will likely see a simultaneous rollout for both access point chips as well as end-use devices. The first wireless networking 802.11ac chip sets are expected to debut late this year or early next year, depending on when the engineering standard is finalized by an industry consortium. This time, there has been less squabbling around the standard among industry players.

The technology is faster because it uses a wider channel for delivering data, at 80 megahertz instead of 40. It uses 256-QAM, a modulation scheme that is four times more efficient than the prior 64-QAM scheme. And it taps multiple antennae using the MIMO (Multiple-Inputs, Multiple-Outputs) spatial stream technology, using twice as many streams as were available before.
