Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa series of mobile processors with ARM© big.LITTLETM technology now supports heterogeneous multi-processing (HMP)! This advanced technology allows the Exynos 5 Octa processors to provide exceptional performance and increased power efficiency. In the OCTA-pella video, you'll see how the Exynos 5 Octa uses ARM big.LITTLE processing to balance workloads across CPU cores, using the right core for the right task.

Press release:

Samsung Primes Exynos 5 Octa for ARM big.LITTLE Technology with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing Capability

Seoul, Korea, September 10, 2013

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced its Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) solution for the Exynos 5 Octa to fully maximize the benefits of the ARM® big.LITTLETM technology. The HMP capability gives system-level designers the ability to develop solutions that deliver the right combination of high-performance and low-power to carry out tasks such as 3D gaming, complex augmented reality and advanced web browsing.

"It's usually assumed that the big CPU will do all the performance-critical work, however, power-efficient little cores can handle many significant workloads all on their own, so the workload is balanced within the system," said Taehoon Kim, vice president of System LSI marketing, Samsung Electronics. "big.LITTLE processing is designed to deliver the right combination of processors for a specific job. An eight-core processor with HMP is the truest form of the big.LITTLE technology with limitless benefits to the users of high-performance, low-power mobile products."

"ARM big.LITTLE multi-processing technology delivers the highest performance and efficiency across the widest range of workloads," said Noel Hurley, vice president, Strategy and Marketing, Processor Division, ARM. "We welcome Samsung's continued commitment to deploying the leading-edge technology on their latest chips featuring the ARM CortexTM-A series of processors, ARM MaliTM GPUs and ARM ArtisanTM physical IP."

HMP is the most powerful use model for ARM big.LITTLE technology, as it enables the use of all physical cores at the same time. Software threads with high priority or high computational intensity can be allocated to the 'big' Cortex-A15 cores while threads with less priority or are less computationally intensive, can be performed by the 'LITTLE' Cortex-A7 cores, enabling a highly responsive, low-energy system to be built.

Software implementation is essential to maximizing the benefits of big.LITTLE technology. Multi-processing software controls the scheduling of threads of execution to the appropriate core. In earlier versions of the big.LITTLE software, the whole processor context is moved up to the 'big' core or down to the 'LITTLE' core based on the measured work load. In-depth study and analysis of diverse use case scenarios enable Samsung to achieve efficiency and high-performance, while managing power levels to deliver optimal user environments.

The HMP solution for Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa application processors will be available to customers in 4Q of 2013.

The announcement of the remarkable achievement comes from Samsung Mobile Communications chief JK Shin, who also reckons that the recently announced Galaxy Note 3 will "surpass its predecessors". Shin expects the Galaxy Note 3 to sell well over 10 million units.  The Samsung Galaxy Note I hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2011. One year later, the Note II landed. That means Samsung has been selling, on average, 4.75 million Notes a quarter since first introducing the world to the "phablet" product category.

The Samsung executive didn't break down the sales between the two devices. As a reference, the Samsung Galaxy Note II needed just two months to hit 5 million sales. Samsung's successful market performance is certainly in no smart part due to the wide availability of its devices.

Samsung took to Exynos' official twitter account to confirm about an upcoming Exynos processor.

According to a tweet, Samsung's Exynos processors are "about to undergo another evolution". The tweet is accompanied with an image that appears to have a microphone on the front while a person de-focused in the background.

Samsung Exynos chipsets have been having somewhat of a rough time lately. First the Exynos 5 Octa 5410 couldn't deliver the Snapdragon-smashing performance everyone was expecting from it, while the refreshed 5420 version is yet to hit the shelves in the Galaxy Note III, but it has already been confirmed to come at the expense of 4K video recording.

There's hardly much info that we can get from the tweet. There's obviously a new Exynos chip on the way, but we can only guess what sort of updates it will introduce.

Verizon Wireless is accepting pre-orders for the Note 3 as of now. However, it will ship it a bit latter: on October 10. Customers will have to pay $299.99 for the handset (on contract, of course). Verizon is also offering the option of bundling the Note 3 with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch - for $599.98 on contract. While the smartphone comes only in black and white (at least at Verizon), the smartwatch will be available in black, Wild Orange and Mocha Gray.

The Samsung Galaxy Note® 3 is more innovative than ever-not to mention it has a reimagined design. The full HD display is stunning, and with the new Galaxy Gear as a companion to your Note® 3, simplify your mobile experience and interact with your phone like never before.

Samsung's good heart may not be the reason we're getting the upgrade though, as it surely has an ulterior motive - to give as many people access to the Galaxy Gear smartwatch as possible. The Gear is only compatible with hardware running Android 4.3 and at the moment, that's only the Galaxy Note 3 and the 2014 Note 10.1. Add the many millions of Galaxy S3 and S4 owners into the mix, and Samsung's sales projections for the watch rise considerably.

According to Sam Mobile, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S III would be updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean starting October. This lines up well with what was previously reported about the S III - skipping Android 4.2.2, and going straight to 4.3.

The Note II will probably get the 4.3 update pretty soon as well, although Samsung didn't confirm this yet.

Samsung Galaxy Gear will only support Android 4.3 and up, leaving you with only the Galaxy Note 3 and Note 10.1 at launch. Samsung did announce that the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4 would be arriving in October, so soon there will be three supported devices for the Gear.

The reason behind this requirement is likely because Android 4.3 adds native support for Bluetooth LE (low-energy), and if you're still rocking a Galaxy S II, it's time for an upgrade.

There's always a chance that Gear support could come in the future, but we're certainly not counting on it, especially with this first-generation wearable.  It's not clear if Galaxy Nexus devices will be supported when updated to Android 4.3 as well, but Samsung has confirmed that the Gear will work with a refreshed Galaxy S4.

Samsung has now introduced a 6 1/2-minute video that takes us through everything from the new design to all the unique software features like Air Command.

Samsung Galaxy Gear prototype leaked by Venturebeat who got to spend some time with the smartwatch.  What you see above is a snapshot of a Galaxy Gear promo video, as the media wasn't allowed to take photos of the actual prototype it had. Anyway, the display of the Galaxy Gear is 3" in size and is of the OLED variety. The screen is square, but sadly its resolution wasn't disclosed.

Samsung Galaxy Gear itself is colored in dark gray and black and sports built-in speakers in the strap. Naturally, there'll be more colors on the way, but they weren't detailed. On the top side, there's also a 4MP camera, which is used to record health data as well as taking pictures. There's a special piece of software which recognizes if the food is fat or contains grains.

The site also claims that the Gear will have 10+ hours of battery life, something which was rumored recently and has made people look at it with disdain even before its upcoming official announcement. The Gear will connect to a smartwatch via Bluetooth, and also via NFC as we'd learned from the screenshot of the Gear Manager companion app.

IFA is just a couple of days away and the Samsung Unpacked event is promising to be a blast with the Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear smartwatch making their first official appearance.

Shazam for Android version 4.0 has hit Google Play, adding a swathe of new features and design tweaks.  The new edition of the popular song recognition application can now return results far quicker than before, and the new user interface now features a Shazam dial rather than the "sweep" action of previously.

Shazam recognizes music and media playing around you. Tap the Shazam button to instantly match, and then explore, buy and share. You can Shazam as much as you want!

Once you've Shazamed something, you can:

â—‹ Buy tracks on Amazon MP3

Engadget has received a document which shows that Three UK should start selling the Galaxy Note III on September 16. The Sony Xperia Z1 is expected to arrive a bit later - on September 24. At the very bottom of the screenshot we can see that the LG G2 is also headed to Three, being scheduled to go on sale on October 1.

The two most anticipated smartphones of next week's IFA show, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z1, haven't been officially announced, but neither manufacturer has made any secret of their existence.

Announced back in June as "the only device you'll ever need", the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has two versions: one with HSDPA connectivity, and another one that also supports LTE. While the HSDPA version has been available since July, the LTE-capable Galaxy S4 Zoom is only now being released - at least in Europe.

the GALAXY S4 zoom comes jam-packed with entertainment features, including the new Samsung Hub, a one-stop destination for all of the latest music, videos, books and games, while Group Play lets users wirelessly share new tracks or games with friends so that groups can all listen and play together.

As with the GALAXY S4, the GALAXY S4 zoom runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 while the cutting edge LTE connectivity enables superfast 4G LTE uploading and sharing on the go. The GALAXY S4 zoom also offers Touchwiz, which allows the customization of various aspects of the device, Story Album to collate images and videos into one easy to share timeline and Samsung Link for safeguarding images on laptops or tablets. Alternatively, pictures can be synced in the cloud through HomeSync, while prints can be ordered directly from the device via blurb****.

The Samsung GALAXY S4 zoom LTE will be available on a variety of networks including Deutsche Telekom, Tele2, Telia Sonera and Orange.

South Korean media site have reported that samsung is preparing to adopt a metal housing to its next smartphone to be released in early next year Samsung.  Could it be the Samsung Galaxy S5?

The report also claims that Samsung is looking to start a production line later this year to create those metal chassis, with a sample produced in Europe sent for testing to Vietnam earlier this year. Samsung is reportedly treading lightly and is looking to minimize effects of a metal housing, such as on the antenna reception (Apple's "death grip" on iPhone, remember that?). Hopefully, things like removable batteries and expandable storage are being focused on, too.

Still alot of time before the Galaxy Galaxy S5 makes its way to market, so it's best to take these rumors as grain of salt, but nothing stop us from hoping, right?

The image above has been digitally obtained, by matching two available images of the front panels of the Galaxy Note 2 (left) and Galaxy Note 3 (right) - that means we're yet to actually see a photograph taken of the two components placed side by side.

Again, assuming the Galaxy Note 3 front panel is real, then we could conclude that the handset is indeed going to be fairly similar to the Galaxy Note 2 when it comes to overall size. That wouldn't be surprising considering that the Galaxy S4 has a similar size when compared with the Galaxy S3.

The Galaxy Note 2 has a 5.5-inch display, with the Galaxy Note 3 expected to pack a 5.7-inch panel. As for he Galaxy S4, the phone has a 5-inch display (measures 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm) while the Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch display (measures 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm).

Specifications that are reportedly the Galaxy Note III are as follows:

  • Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 2.3Ghz quad-core (or Exynos 5)
  • 5.68 inches FHD AMOLED
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 13 million pixel camera (OIS not supported)
  • Battery capacity of 3300mAh
  • S-Pen stylus
  • Android 4.3 JellyBean

According to Korean Newspaper Samsung Galaxy Note III may comes with camera which is capable of recording 4K UHD(3840*2160) videos and also offers 24 bit/192kHz Hi-Fi playback that generates studio like quality sound far better than CD which only offers at 16 bit/44.1kHz

The Korea Economic Daily apparently has it from industry sources that the Galaxy Note 3 will be able to record 4K UHD videos - that's a resolution of 3840 x 2160 (2160p) or 8.3-megapixel - which will feel right at home on those new 4K TV sets out there.

We'll remind you that the LG G2 is going to offer users a camera with OIS features, something that was expected from the Galaxy Note 3 as well.

  • Other Rumored Specifications of device are:
  • 5.68 Full HD Super Amoled Display
  • Snapdragon 800/Exynos 5420 Chipset
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB/64GB internal storage
  • 13Mpx camera
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
  • 3420mAh battery

The device will be officially unveiled at IFA2013 on September 4

Source: techkiddy

Around May this year, we heard a rumor that the Samsung Galaxy Note III's camera module would sport OIS, but apparently that won't be happening after all. According to reports coming in from South Korea, the Galaxy Note III will not have OIS because of issues with the production of such modules.

Ironically, it's the Galaxy Note III's predicted success in terms of sales that is going to prevent it from coming with this much sought-after feature. Samsung simply couldn't secure as many OIS modules from its suppliers as it needed. So the company really has no choice but to ship the Note III without OIS.

As Samsung Electronics is going full steam ahead with the commercialization of state-of-the-art camera modules, 16-mega-pixel products are expected to become the basic specifications for its premium smartphones next year. The structure of the domestic camera module industry is forecast to go through a big change too.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been the sole supplier of 13-mega-pixel camera module for Samsung Electronics, but Samsung Electronics is expected to increase the number of suppliers next year. If Samsung Electro-Mechanics concentrates in the production of 16-mega-pixel products, the procurement of 13-mega-pixel products will become unstable.

Samsung Electronics has recently increased the number of 8-mega-pixel suppliers to meet Samsung Electro-Mechanics\' production schedule for 13-mega-pixel camera modules. About three months ago, vendors, including Partron, Cammsys and Powerlogics, were approved as suppliers of 8-mega-pixel camera module suppliers. Some of them are working with Samsung Electronics to obtain its approval for 13-mega-pixel products.

Google's popular mobile browser is going to receive a redesigned start page, a hidden setting reveals. Other new features include image search and new gestures.

Today's Beta release of Chrome you can quickly discover all sorts of content related to an image by right-clicking on it, or by long pressing it on mobile devices, and selecting the option to search for it within your default search provider.

Right-click on an image to use it as a Google search

In Chrome for Android, new gestures make it even easier to get where you want to go. Swipe horizontally across the top toolbar to quickly switch tabs (this gesture replaces swiping from the edge of the screen). Drag vertically down from the toolbar to enter into the tab switcher view. And drag down from the menu to open the menu and select the item you want without having to lift your finger.

This is all clearly a work in progress (hence the hidden placement within the Chrome flags section); the voice-command icon doesn't yet work, and tapping the Bookmarks or Other Devices buttons takes you back to those respective sections in the old-style start page.

Google has posted the factory images and binaries for the Nexus tablets and smartphone versions out there.  In case you haven't updated your Nexus devices to the newest Android 4.3 version, you can get it as follows:

  • JSS15Q is available for the Nexus 7 (2013)
  • JWR66Y is available for the Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 4, Nexus and Galaxy Nexus (yakju and takju variants)

The Galaxy Nexus 4, Wifi and HSPA Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 10 and GSM Galaxy Nexus all stick with build number JWR66Y and are referred to as "android-4.3_r1.1", while the Nexus 7 (2013) splits to a different path with build number JSS15Q and "android-4.3_r2.2". Sprint and Verizon versions of the Galaxy Nexus, along with the Nexus S, are seeing no factory image changes however.

Source: Android 4.3 download

The Galaxy Note III will flaunt a 5.68-inch Full HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 / octa-core Exynos processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of minimum built-in storage and a microSD slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, a 3,200mAh battery, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

According to SamMobile, which broke the news about the Gear smartwatch colors yesterday, the Samsung Galaxy Note III is planned to initially launch in black and white, as you would expect. But, apparently in late October there will be another color to be released: pink. Maybe that wouldn't be the most popular color with our readership, but there are very few devices offered in pink, so that would be quite an interesting choice.

To recap:

- Week 36 - Black, white
- Week 43 - Pink

If you're running a rooted Galaxy Note II or Galaxy S 4 and want easy access to some things that normally require manually editing system files, we've got the app for you. It's called Note 2 Hidden Settings, and does exactly what you'd expect: offers access to otherwise hidden system settings.

***REQUIRES ROOT***

This app enables you to easily change hidden settings on your Note 2 (or other Samsung device), such as:

• Adding a shutter sound on/off option to the camera
• Turning on Infinite Scroll mode on the launcher and app drawer
• Extending how many contacts you can join together

These modifications normally can only be made by manually editing a system file, which can be dangerous and very inconvenient. This app makes the process quick and painless.

Features:

• Shows which options have already been enabled, even by a different app or manually
• Creates an automatic backup in case something goes wrong
• Nice looking Holo interface
• Supports devices which implement feature.xml or an others.xml file

Note: App is not compatible with AOSP roms.

Tested devices:

• Verizon Note 2
• International Note 2
• Galaxy S4
• International Note 1

If the app isn't working or if you have any other questions, please email the developer and a fix will be on the way.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note III and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch are all but confirmed to be ready for an official unveiling on September 4th, and today we've received the shipping dates for both devices in our mailbox - the third-generation Note will start shipping in the same month it is announced, while the smartwatch will arrive in the market from October.

The Galaxy Gear is Samsung's first attempt at making a smartwatch. Reportedly, it features a 1.67 inch AMOLED display with 320 x 320 pixels, NFC, 1GB of RAM, and an Exynos 4212 processor.

The Galaxy Note III seemingly features a 5.68 inch Full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,200 mAh battery. The LTE version (model number SM-N9005) uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, while the non-LTE one (SM-N900) comes with Samsung's new Exynos 5420 Octa.

According to Korean site ET News, bothSamsung Display and LG Display will ship flexible displays this coming November, and they are considering expanding production capacity thereafter. As the first product will be introduced as an `unbreakable and light' concept phone, the production capacity of the current pilot lines of the two companies will be enough. However, if the response is good, the production capacity is so insufficient that it cannot handle a single mega-class model.

Besides being flexible, why should you be interested in this new display technology? The screens themselves are not made out of glass, they're made out of a plastic substrate that's far more resistant to damage. You'll hear the term "unbreakable" get thrown around a lot, and while I think that's pushing it, you'll definitely be able to drop your flexi-phone to the ground and not have to worry about it getting a nasty hairline fracture.

In addition to Samsung Display and LG Display, Japanese and Taiwanese companies are developing flexible OLED, but they seem to have a long way to go until mass production.

Samsung will introduce a wristwatch-like device named the Galaxy Gear next month that can make phone calls, surf the Web and handle e-mails, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The Galaxy Gear will be powered by Google's Android operating system and go on sale this year to beat a potentially competing product from Apple, the people said. The device will be unveiled Sept. 4, two days before the IFA consumer electronics show begins in Berlin, one of the people said, asking not to be identified because the plans are private.

For instance, our sources who are familiar with Samsung's plans tell us Samsung has seeded many different variations of the watch design to developers, but most of them are said to have square screens and all have high quality OLED displays that show full spectrum of colors. It is said to be around 2.5 inches diagonally (and 3 inches diagonally including the case), is powered by a dual core processor and should have pretty decent battery life. That information lines up with an earlier SamMobile report suggesting a Samsung Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz with Mali-400 MP4 GPU and a 320 x 320 resolution display.

Samsung may already be working on new smartphone models with display sizes ranging from 4 to 5.2 inches.  In addition to the Galaxy Note 3 flagship, which is expected to launch in the coming months.

SamMobile has tracked such unknown devices using a logistics website which has revealed details about alleged Galaxy Note 3 versions and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch in the recent past.

There's no other info on the SM-G9105 and SM-G7102, but UAProf strings on Samsung's mobile website reveal the display resolutions for the other two. The SM-G730A's 4″ screen will have the customary WVGA (800 x 480) screen like all other 4-inch Samsung phones, while the SM-G3815 sports a qHD (540 x 960) resolution, which means it will have a pixel density lower than the Galaxy S4 mini and S4 Zoom, something that will probably put off a few people before the devices even go official.

We first heard about the possibility of a 12-inch Android-powered Samsung  tablet back in June, when Korean-based ET News reported that the massive tab would feature an impressive 2560 x 1600 resolution. Besides the resolution, all we knew at the time was that the tablet allegedly would arrive in the not-too-distant future.

According to a market research firm IDC, Samsung Electronics sold 8.1 million units of tablet PCs in the second quarter of this year, up 2.1 million units from a year ago, with its market share rising to 18.9 percent worldwide, a 2.5-fold jump year on year.

That same report speculated that the display could match the resolution of Google's smaller Nexus 10, which is manufactured by Samsung.
Apple is also reportedly considering larger tablets.  Needless to say, if both Samsung and Apple come out with larger tablets, others will follow suit.

Earlier this week Samsung sent out invitations to an Unpacked 2013: Episode 2 event that's taking place on Sept. 4, and while the company didn't exactly come right out and say it, it's fairly likely that the Galaxy Note III will be making its big debut there.

Samsung's global website currently hosts a set of instructions on how to use SideSync, a piece of software that enables a user to hook their Samsung-made Android device up to a computer and share screens and data between the two. An Android fan has found that the SideSync instructions are littered with references to the "Galaxy Note III." According to the documentation, the SideSync app will come preloaded on Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Launch dates for the device are not yet available.

Those who buy the new Galaxy Tab 3 in its 7-inch, 8-inch, or 10-inch variety or a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition get the Boingo WiFi access, three months of Hulu, plus the newly-added free Dropbox storage. But the Google Play credit is dropped to $10, and there's no WatchON credit.

Even so, the Dropbox storage is worth about $120 based on their Pro pricing, and if you really do choose a Samsung tablet over the compelling alternatives, this should make your new hardware all the sweeter.

However, it seems the offer is good for U.S. customers only, so others are out of luck. The promotion will run until September 30, and is available with purchases from any U.S. retailer. Hit the source link for more details.

Google has finally launched the web interface to their promised new service for Android users called Android Device Manager. The unimaginatively named service works similar to Apple's Find My iPhone, Samsung's Find My Mobile or HTC's HTCSense.com and helps you track down your (lost) Android device.

Locate and ring your misplaced device

  • If you ended up dropping your phone between those couch cushions, Android Device Manager lets you quickly ring your phone at maximum volume so you can find it, even if it's been silenced. And in the event that your phone or tablet is out of earshot (say, at that restaurant you left it at last night), you can locate it on a map in real time.

Protecting your personal information and data

  • While losing your phone can be stressful, Android Device Manager can help you keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands. If your phone can't be recovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device.

Availability and getting started

  • This service is now available on devices running Android 2.2 or above; to use it, you also will need to be signed into your Google Account. There will also be an Android app to allow you to easily find and manage your devices. Stay tuned!

Great news Google Music fans, Google Play Music All Access is now available in Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain and United Kingdom.

You can now Sign Up for a 30 day trial, followed by a special locked in price of £7.99/month for being an early subscriber. Normal price will be £9.99 after this initial deal expires on 15th September.

Those of you waiting for this service on iOS still don't have a clear picture as to hen the app will arrive, but judging by the fact that iTunes Match is now working almost world-wide, there might not be a need for a rush.

Looks like T-Mobile's Galaxy S3 would not be updated to Android 4.2.2, instead getting the latest 4.3 Jelly Bean build.  I guess it's good news for those who wants to get the latest and greatest software updates.

Both the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II - introduced as flagship devices last year - are currently running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. And it makes perfect sense for Samsung to start preparing Android 4.3 updates - now that this version is out.

Together with previous rumors so it is unlikely that there is an update to Android 4.2.2 and Samsung devices both with and without branding devices directly update to Android 4.3. therefore remains is the great question of "when".

The LG G2 was officially unveiled mere hours ago, and so far we've already heard that all the big four carriers in the US will sell it eventually. T-Mobile and Sprint have already confirmed their intentions, with the other two soon to follow undoubtedly.

The benchmarks Droid-Life ran were AnTuTu and Quadrant, two of the most commonly used tests to pit phones against each other. With a five star rating from AnTuTu and the largest Quadrant score probably someone ever seen, it's a safe bet that the G2 can perform under pressure.

LG G2 when powered on, the 5.2-inch 1080p LCD is stunningly sharp and bright. On the bottom you'll find the microUSB port, headphone jack, and speakers, and the top features only a small IR blaster and microphone. The back cover is non-removable and contains a 3,000 mAh battery, and there is no microSD card slot.

Thanks Droid-Life

HTC One is currently available in grey, black and red. some also have seen it in 24-carat gold.  But now you can get it in blue, if press images leaked out by @evleaks are to be believed, a blue variant of the HTC One will be hitting store shelves some time this year.

Last week we heard that Verizon may get an exclusive on this particular hue in the United States which still seems odd, as we would have expected the carrier nicknamed Big Red to go for, you know, the red One as an exclusive - but alas that seems to have been grabbed by Sprint.

As you can see above the phone looks no different than your standard HTC One, but all of its aluminum is now a fine matte blue color with black plastic accents and a silver "Beats Audio" branding on the bottom. We personally think it looks quite stylish, but who knows where or when it will be made available.

Today, LG Electronics is set to unveil the G2, the Korean company's flagship smartphone and successor to last year's well-received Optimus G. With so much recent media attention devoted to iPhone speculation, Samsung's seemingly never-ending S4 lineup and the Moto X from Google GOOG -0.93%, it's easy to forget that LG sits third in global smartphone market share according to IDC's latest report. And while the handset division may have lacked for runaway hits over the last few of years, it did manufacture the Google Nexus 4.

The G2 is widely expected to feature a Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5.2-inch LCD Full HD display, 2GB or RAM and a 13MP camera. The most distinctive feature of the new phone (which some think may be the basis of the next Nexus) is the absence of physical buttons on the front and sides of the device, and their placement on the rear of the device.

The event starts at 11AM EDT

Samsung Electronics, the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced that it has begun mass producing the industry's first three-dimensional (3D) vertical NAND (V-NAND) flash memory, which breaks through the current scaling limit for existing NAND flash technology. The new 3D V-NAND will be used for a wide range of consumer electronics and enterprise applications, including embedded NAND storage and solid state drives (SSDs).

Samsung's new V-NAND offers a 128Gb density in a single chip, utilizing the company's proprietary vertical cell structure based on 3D charge trap flash (CTF) technology and vertical interconnect process technology to link the 3D cell array. By applying both of these technologies, Samsung's 3D V-NAND is able to provide over twice the scaling of 20nm-class planar NAND flash.

See press release below:

SEOUL, South Korea-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced that it has begun mass producing the industry's first three-dimensional (3D) Vertical NAND (V-NAND) flash memory, which breaks through the current scaling limit for existing NAND flash technology. Achieving gains in performance and area ratio, the new 3D V-NAND will be used for a wide range of consumer electronics and enterprise applications, including embedded NAND storage and solid state drives (SSDs).

"Following the world's first mass production of 3D Vertical NAND, we will continue to introduce 3D V-NAND products with improved performance and higher density, which will contribute to further growth of the global memory industry."

Samsung's new V-NAND offers a 128 gigabit (Gb) density in a single chip, utilizing the company's proprietary vertical cell structure based on 3D Charge Trap Flash (CTF) technology and vertical interconnect process technology to link the 3D cell array. By applying both of these technologies, Samsung's 3D V-NAND is able to provide over twice the scaling of 20nm-class* planar NAND flash.

"The new 3D V-NAND flash technology is the result of our employees' years of efforts to push beyond conventional ways of thinking and pursue much more innovative approaches in overcoming limitations in the design of memory semiconductor technology," said Jeong-Hyuk Choi, senior vice president, flash product & technology, Samsung Electronics. "Following the world's first mass production of 3D Vertical NAND, we will continue to introduce 3D V-NAND products with improved performance and higher density, which will contribute to further growth of the global memory industry."

For the past 40 years, conventional flash memory has been based on planar structures that make use of floating gates. As manufacturing process technology has proceeded to the 10nm-class* and beyond, concern for a scaling limit arose, due to the cell-to-cell interference that causes a trade-off in the reliability of NAND flash products. This also led to added development time and costs.

Samsung's new V-NAND solves such technical challenges by achieving new levels of innovation in circuits, structure and the manufacturing process through which a vertical stacking of planar cell layers for a new 3D structure has been successfully developed. To do this, Samsung revamped its CTF architecture, which was first developed in 2006. In Samsung's CTF-based NAND flash architecture, an electric charge is temporarily placed in a holding chamber of the non-conductive layer of flash that is composed of silicon nitride (SiN), instead of using a floating gate to prevent interference between neighboring cells.

By making this CTF layer three-dimensional, the reliability and speed of the NAND memory have improved sharply. The new 3D V-NAND shows not only an increase of a minimum of 2X to a maximum 10X higher reliability, but also twice the write performance over conventional 10nm-class floating gate NAND flash memory.

Also, one of the most important technological achievements of the new Samsung V-NAND is that the company's proprietary vertical interconnect process technology can stack as many as 24 cell layers vertically, using special etching technology that connects the layers electronically by punching holes from the highest layer to the bottom. With the new vertical structure, Samsung can enable higher density NAND flash memory products by increasing the 3D cell layers without having to continue planar scaling, which has become incredibly difficult to achieve.

After nearly 10 years of research on 3D Vertical NAND, Samsung now has more than 300 patent-pending 3D memory technologies worldwide. With the industry's first completely functional 3D Vertical NAND memory, Samsung has strengthened its competitiveness in the memory industry as well as set the foundation for more advanced products including one terabit (Tb) NAND flash, while setting a faster pace for industry growth.

According to IHS iSuppli, the global NAND flash memory market is expected to reach approximately US $30.8 billion in revenues by the end of 2016, from approximately US $23.6 billion in 2013 with a CAGR of 11 percent, in leading growth of the entire memory industry.

Is this another leaked picture of the Galaxy Note 3? From the picture, taken at a low resolution and unfortunately a bit 'fuzzy, it appears as the next device in the series Notes may have a battery slightly narrower but at the same time little bit longer.

Another detail that is evident as regards the edges and corners of the device, that are sharp and in contrast with the normal lines and the design which we have used to Samsung phones in recent years (although it must be said that the design is very similar to some leaked images of Note 3 revealed in the past ).

Samsung Galaxy Note III is expected to have an octa-core Exynos 5420 or quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 1080p display of 5.7-6″, a 13-megapixel camera possibly with optical image stabilization, LTE-A (LTE-Advanced) connectivity, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with an improved TouchWiz UI.

September will be the month Samsung revealing the Galaxy Note 3.

We have all heard about the music player by Samsung called Galaxy Player, it was announced sometime last year.   This year, it seems Samsung will launch a new media player and going by the information by Move Player, the upcoming player will arrive to South Korea soon.

This device will be known as Galaxy 070, features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and will be powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a WVGA display, two cameras, Play Store support, Wi-Fi and lots more.

While this device looks like South Korea-only, if Samsung plans an international variant, we might get to see it at the IFA next month where we'll report live from the venue.

Obama administration vetoed a U.S. trade panel's ban on the import and sale of some older iPhones and iPads, reversing a ruling that had favored South Korea's Samsung over Apple in their long-running patent battle. The move was vehemently criticized by the South Korean media as "protectionism."

"We express concerns about the negative impact that such a decision would have on the protection of patent rights," the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, said in a statement.

Apple and Samsung, the world's top two smartphones makers, have been waging a global patent war since 2011, filing multiple lawsuits against each other over the design, interface and technology of their devices.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in June banned the import and sale of the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 3G and iPad 2 3G distributed by AT&T Inc (T.N), saying the devices infringed on one patent owned by the South Korean electronics giant.

Samsung had also accused Apple of infringing on three other patents, but the ITC found that Apple did not infringe those. A Samsung spokesman said on Monday the electronics giant in July appealed the ITC decision on the three patents.

Ladies and Gents, please mark your calendars. September 4 is the official date when Samsung will unveil the new Galaxy Note 3. The tweet sent out by Samsung Mobile asks to "Note the date" and even the invitation seems to be created with the help of S Pen.

Samsung is going to livestream the event on its YouTube page, but we'll be on the ground live to give you everything there's to know regarding the Galaxy Note III and whatever else the company announces (a smart watch is mentioned quite frequently lately).

There were reports that Samsung hasn't decided on a screen size yet, while others suggest that the Exynos 5420 Octa chip is going to be powering the smartphone. There were also rumors suggest that Samsung is going to provide an alternative version of the Note III powered by the Snapdragon 800 chip.

The previous leaks have given us some hints on what to expect but Samsung will have more to tell in Berlin on September 4 at 7PM CEST.
